Governor General Officially Opens the Images and Reflections Exhibit From the Triangle Gallery of Calgary, in Slovakia

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2008) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, officially opened today the Images and Reflections exhibit from the Triangle Gallery of Calgary, on display at the State Scientific Library in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.

In the presence of the director and curator of the Triangle Gallery, Mr. Jacek Malec, the deputy minister of culture, Mr. Augustin Josef Lang, and other distinguished guests, the Governor General delivered a speech to mark this special occasion. She also recognized the wonderful work conducted by the Triangle Gallery, a public art gallery operated by the Calgary Contemporary Arts Society, and financed by the City of Calgary.

Today's other highlights of the State visit in the Slovak Republic included a visit to the Articular Wooden Church in Hronsek, and a meeting with three local Slovakian non-governmental organizations to discuss and compare public participation in Canada and Slovakia respectively, in Banska Bystrica.
