Great Bay Software Launches Expanded Platform Lineup

The Company Announces a 250,000 Endpoint Server for Large Enterprise Organizations

DOVER, NH--(Marketwire - April 20, 2010) -  Great Bay Software, the innovator of Endpoint Profiling for enterprise networks, announced the availability of two new platforms for the Company's flagship product, the Beacon Endpoint Profiler™. The new platforms represent significant capacity enhancements for the world's largest enterprise networks as well as new Beacon Collectors for the small remote sites found in vertical markets such as retail and finance.

The expanded system capacity both for large enterprise data centers as well as for small remote sites will alleviate many of the risks associated with large-scale deployments of NAC and 802.1X. The 250,000 Endpoint Server from Great Bay represents a significant increase in capacity. Great Bay now supports single server options ranging from 1000 endpoints to 250,000 endpoints, while the new collectors are designed to provide detailed visibility into retail and small office environments.

Discovering and documenting all network-attached endpoints is a task that can consume a great deal of time at a large cost. This has been a principle cause of many stalled authentication projects in the past. Great Bay Software's Beacon Endpoint Profiler provides a comprehensive accounting of all network endpoints. The information stored within Beacon is leveraged by Juniper Networks UAC, Symantec NAC and Cisco NAC to authenticate endpoints that are not running a client for NAC or 802.1x -- whether they are incapable of doing so, new to the enterprise, or in need of temporary access. Now, with Beacon's 250,000-endpoint capacity, it is easier than ever for large enterprise organizations to automate and centralize network discovery.

"Great Bay Software is announcing these new form factors at a critical time in the maturation of the 802.1X and NAC markets," said Steve Pettit, president of Great Bay Software. "We've heard from the world's largest enterprise organizations that endpoint discovery and monitoring are the critical first steps towards 802.1X and NAC, and the centralization of that data is a mandate for such initiatives."
