BURBANK, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 25, 2005 -- It was announced today that Grammy® Award-winning rock band Green Day was nominated for eight MTV Video Music Awards, the most of any artist / band, for the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. The band will also perform on the VMAs Sunday, August 28th.

Green Day received nominations in multiple categories including: Video of the Year, Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, all for the video of their smash "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Green Day was touted as Yahoo! Music's Artist of The Month at release time, and the band recorded Sessions@AOL this past fall, which aired extensively on Fuse.
