SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 3, 2010) - Findings from the new "Wisdom of Crowds" Business Intelligence Market Study™ by Dresner Advisory Services, LLC reveal a dramatic shift away from traditional on-premise Business Intelligence (BI) software in favor of solutions from "Emerging" BI vendors, such as PivotLink. The study of 457 business and Information Technology (IT) professionals ranks 15 leading companies' products, with PivotLink users confirming a 100% recommendation and other top ratings as compared to peers and the overall sample.

The unsponsored study was led by industry expert, author and former Gartner Research Fellow Howard Dresner, one of the foremost thought leaders in Business Intelligence and Performance Management.

PivotLink was the only pure Software as a Service (SaaS) BI vendor ranked in the study. Vendors were grouped into three categories based on general market profiles: "Titans," "Established Pure-plays" and the "Emerging" vendors group combining SaaS, open source, visualization tools and desktop tools.

"Emerging" BI vendors are displacing most "Titans" in number of deployments: The findings highlight an inflection point between 2006 and 2007 when deployments declined sharply, fueled in part by the BI acquisition spree and economic uncertainty. Methodology

The "Wisdom of Crowds" Business Intelligence Market Study was created as a way to give a voice to those actually using BI solutions (i.e., "crowds sourcing"), creating a new and different perspective for measuring BI vendors and products in the market. An online survey allowed participants to evaluate vendor and product experience based on 32 criteria, which were scored and averaged by group and in total.
