Recognizing that one in nine Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, The Pampered Chef has created a dynamic fund-raising campaign to "Help Whip Cancer." Funds raised through the Help Whip Cancer campaign will be used by the Canadian Cancer Society to increase awareness of the importance of early detection and screening of breast cancer.

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women and is the second leading cause of cancer death among women. In 2005, an estimated 21,600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,300 will die from the disease.

From May 1 - 31, 2005, Canadians can help raise funds by:
? Purchasing any of the following special Help Whip Cancer products: Microfiber Towel for $11.50, or a set of two Help Whip Clips for $6.50. The Canadian Cancer Society will receive $1.00 for each product purchased.
? Hosting a Help Whip Cancer Pampered Chef Kitchen Show™ Fund-raiser. The Canadian Cancer Society will receive a percentage of the sales of products at this in-home cooking demonstration. Hosts of Pampered Chef Kitchen Shows held in May also can purchase a special pink Family-Size Quick-Stir Pitcher for $9.50 or Quick-Stir Pitcher for $7.50. For each pitcher purchased, the Canadian Cancer Society will receive $1.00.

"The Canadian Cancer Society encourages women to be proactive in caring for their breast health," says Lesley Ring, Director of Corporate Development for the Canadian Cancer Society. "Thanks to the generosity and support of partners like The Pampered Chef, we have the opportunity to spread the word about the importance of early detection and screening for breast cancer."

"Through early detection, education and improved treatment, more women are winning the fight against breast cancer," says Julie Christopher, corporate spokesperson, The Pampered Chef. "Since 2000, The Pampered Chef has raised more than $3.3 million for the American Cancer Society's breast cancer education and early detection programs. I'm confident we can have the same positive effect in the fight against breast cancer across Canada."

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, mammograms and clinical breast examinations are the most reliable methods of finding breast cancer. Breast self-examinations (BSE) performed regularly, help women learn what is normal for their breasts so that they can report changes to their doctor. Woman should discuss their risk of breast cancer and frequency of mammograms with their doctor.
