HTC Desires Sells Almost Twice as Much as Rivals

The super smartphone was released on pre-order at the end of March and has landed on the high street following much hype over its design, Sense user interface and Google Android 2.1 operating system.

Other phones following in the HTC Desire's wake on include the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the Nokia X6 and the Blackberry 8520 Curve.

The news that the Desire is selling so well follows's resident blogger TechnicalMarkus predicting that the phone would beat its rivals in a battle for smart phone customers.

TechnicalMarkus said prior to the phone's release: "The HTC Desire will easily be the best Android phone ever released."

The HTC Desire has the HTC Sense's multi-touch user interface but with pinch and zoom, a large (3.7 inches) AMOLED screen, the Google Android 2.1 operating system (meaning it has loads of apps and Google's many services), a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and HSDPA.

It also has FriendStream, a feature that draws all your contacts updates and posts across social media and email into one stream.
