Haier America to Sponsor USA Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo 2010

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 7, 2010) - Today, Haier America, a leading provider of home appliances and electronics, signed a sponsorship agreement with the USA Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The World Expo runs from May 1 to October 31, 2010 in Shanghai, the largest economic and transportation center in China, and is expected to attract an estimated 70 million visitors over the course of the event, making it the largest World Fair in history.

The theme of the USA Pavilion is "Rising to the Challenge," and a major focus of the Pavilion will be to showcase innovation and sustainability, which complement Haier's corporate vision and values. Furthermore, Haier will host a Haier Day event, highlighting the company's efforts in the United States. The sponsorship with the USA Pavilion is a demonstration of Haier Group's globalization goals and the brand's international level of recognition.

The Shanghai World Expo 2010 will explore the full potential of urban life in the 21st century during this significant period in urban evolution. This "stage" will build a close connection between the American pavilion and the audience, and will showcase the shared values of America and China -- optimism, innovation and cooperation. The USA Pavilion's emphasis on innovation fits well with Haier's brand essence as Haier's leadership has repeatedly emphasized that innovation is at the core of the company's values.

At the end of 2009, world leading business intelligence firm Euromonitor International ranked Haier first among Global Major Appliances Brands by brand share (global brand name), with a retail volume market share of 5.1%, up 0.8 point from 2008. Euromonitor International's rankings also place Haier's refrigeration appliances and home laundry appliances first by global brand name, with 10.4% and 8.4% retail volume market share respectively, up 3.7 point and 1.5 point from 2008.
