Hanley Wood's PUBLIC WORKS Magazine Announces Fourth Annual List of the Nation's Top Trendsetters

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - November 13, 2007) - PUBLIC WORKS magazine's November issue will spotlight the 50 people, places, and events that had the greatest impact on the nation's infrastructure over the past year.

In addition to naming infrastructure managers whose work brought their community or an issue into the spotlight, PUBLIC WORKS' fourth annual Trendsetters list recognizes influential elected officials, projects, organizations, and events -- like the Aug. 1 collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.

Trendsetters are nominated by their peers, selected by the editors of PUBLIC WORKS, or self-nominated. Like the Time Magazine Person of the Year Awards, PUBLIC WORKS recognizes both positive and negative contributions to our nation's streets and roads, solid waste collection and disposal, drinking water supplies, sanitary sewer systems, parks, and rights of way.

"We look for professionals who stand out among their peers by making a national impact on the public works sector, thereby influencing the public's quality of life on a daily basis," says Stephanie Johnston, editor in chief of PUBLIC WORKS magazine. "Each person, organization, event, or place we've selected will be recognized in the November issue with an explanation of their contribution to the community."

For the complete story, and to view the full list of 2007 Trendsetters, visit the PUBLIC WORKS Web site at www.pwmag.com, go to "Articles & Extras," and click on "Trendsetters."

To learn more about how to be considered for this recognition next year, please contact Victoria K. Sicaras, PUBLIC WORKS, 773-824-2504, vsicaras@hanleywood.com.

PUBLIC WORKS, the voice of the public works industry for more than 100 years, is the only magazine focused solely on the information needs of city, county, and state employees who plan, build, operate, and maintain their community's infrastructure assets.
