Health Care Management Company Licenses BackWeb Software to Enable Offline Access for Its Mobile Nurses

BackWeb Solution Enables Nurses With Enhanced Care Initiatives to Access Critical Disease Management Information While They Are With Patients, Regardless of Network Connectivity

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 16, 2005 -- BackWeb Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: BWEB), a leading provider of software designed to mobilize web applications, announced today that Enhanced Care Initiatives, Inc. (ECI) has licensed BackWeb's Offline Access Server™ (OAS) under a three year subscription agreement. ECI will utilize OAS to offline enable its proprietary Disease Management and Outcomes Research System technology. The system is a web-based, data-driven application solution that incorporates medical records management, dissemination of information on demand, and decision support systems for the use of ECI's healthcare professionals and associates.

ECI provides a variety of technology solutions enabling nurses to proactively care for the medically impaired in a way that respects the patients privacy and independence while allowing the nurse to have peace of mind and a sense of security that they have the most comprehensive information on their patients at their fingertips. As ECI evolved its technology solutions, they realized that they needed a technology to complement their current wireless coverage -- for times when wireless wasn't available or providing intermittent service. The BackWeb® solution offers nurses secure, always available access to patient records while they are with their patients. This results in faster performance and more productivity. It also provides ECI with a more flexible and scalable solution suited to their growing business.

Dr. David Chess, CEO of ECI, recognized early on the need for deploying optimum technology to ensure accurate, timely and cost effective managed services. "By employing leading edge technologies such as BackWeb, our nurses are able to concentrate on their patients, not their paperwork, resulting in improved care and cost efficiency," said Chess.

"BackWeb is pleased to be working with Enhanced Care Initiatives, a leader in the disease management market," said Bill Heye, CEO of BackWeb Technologies. "We look forward to helping them achieve the business results they are looking for from the BackWeb solution, by enabling their nurses to gain anytime, anywhere access to the patient information they need to provide more effective healthcare and lower costs for patients and their families. This is just an indication of how mobility can now be applied to mature web applications, which is a part of the larger market trend we're seeing."
