Hellish Holidays Puts the "Fun" in Dysfunctional Family Thanksgiving Celebrations

You Think Your Family Is Bad? Hellish Holidays Channel Features Horrible Holiday Videos From Around the Web

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - November 20, 2007) - Hellish Holidays (www.hellishholidays.com) is an online channel that showcases some of the wildest, funny, and most uncomfortable family holiday videos curated from video networks around the Web.

The site is the brainchild of Laura Cohen and Steve Loyola who set out to present a more representative take on the holidays. Their inspiration stems from the media saturation of Norman Rockwell-style gatherings, which, in their view, isn't accurate and continues to create unrealistic expectations and unnecessary pain.

According to Cohen, "You always hear about wonderful holiday memories, but I think most people are just better at blocking out reality than I am. Many of my memories involve cranky relatives, burned food, disappointing gifts and traffic jams that go on for days. What a recipe for disaster!"

The site is powered byMagnify.net, a peer-driven online video discovery and broadcast channel that powers video channels. Magnify is featuring the popular video channel just in time for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

Cohen explains the theory of the site this way: "I have finally accepted that holidays suck. Screw Martha Stewart and Hallmark, it's all a big crock. The people we love will let us down, the food won't taste anything like the magazines tell us, and no one wants to clean up."

Cohen offers visitors the ability to seek comfort in the company of their peers and invites them share their stories as well and laugh and cry at the other videos that remind them that they are not alone in celebrating Hellish Holidays. And, since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, it's good to know that there are others out there having mashed potato fights and eating squid instead of turkey.
