Highland Resources Inc.: Results of AGM

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2009) - Highland Resources Inc. (the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:HI) announces that at its Annual and Special Meeting of shareholders (the "Meeting") held on December 15, 2009, the following were reappointed directors for the ensuing year:

Roger Blair (President)
Robert Eadie (Chief Executive Officer)
Gary Arca (Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary)
Ken Sumanik

At the Meeting, shareholders also appointed David Salmon as a new director of the Company.

Mr. Salmon is currently Vice-President (Western Canada) of Laurel Hill Advisory Group, LLC, a North American shareholder communications and corporate governance firm. Mr. Salmon's career includes 15 years of financial services experience, specializing in shareholder strategies related to hostile and friendly acquisitions, proxy contests, and corporate governance issues. Prior to his experience in the shareholder communications industry, Mr. Salmon spent over 5 years gaining significant business development and sales management experience in the retail banking industry.

Mr. Salmon graduated from the University of Toronto and subsequently completed the Canadian Securities course. David is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute and the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries.
