Home Improvement Projects Made Easy With RONA Project Guides

Customers benefit from home improvement experts' know-how and have access to headache-free installation services

BOUCHERVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 12, 2007) - RONA inc. (TSX:RON), the largest Canadian retailer and distributor of hardware, home renovation and gardening products, has officially launched its Project Guide service across its big-box stores and most of its proximity stores in Canada. The service has already been made available in a number of stores during the past few months. More than personal shoppers, RONA Project Guides are specially-trained, knowledgeable employees who can assist customers through important home improvement projects by advising them on products and helping them coordinate the necessary work. Project Guides will also manage installation services for customers who require them; obtaining estimates from certified professionals, scheduling work and ensuring final results meet expectations. RONA guarantees its installation services for a full year.

Customers may set up an appointment with a Project Guide online at or by filling out a project lead form at a store. A Project Guide will then contact the customer at the specified day and time. Whether customers need help with a RONA by Design layout - professionally-designed project layouts that include fixtures and accessories - or their own concept, RONA Project Guides will assist them from beginning to full project completion, without any additional charges.

"The RONA brand was always synonym of service. We decided to up the ante by dedicating experienced staff to helping customers with their home improvement projects, guiding them across the different departments or boutiques they need to shop from and offering advice on realizing the project themselves or through our installation services," stated Robert Dutton, RONA President and CEO. "This is something our customers have been asking for and today we've received amazing feedback from clients who have used the service. We are proud to be making RONA's know-how available trough this service while also making the lives of our customers simpler."

From kitchen design to garden shed building

Today, with the help of Project Guides, customers have access to the skills, knowledge and service they come to expect from RONA, all of this while dealing with one dedicated employee who will guide them through their project, step by step. After setting up an appointment, customers will be able to discuss their project at length with their dedicated Project Guide. They will benefit from free, personalized service and will have access to RONA's installation services. RONA Project Guides can also offer customers technical advice, tips based on recent trends and new products, information on RONA's financing plans as well as updates on sales, promotions and training sessions.

It's not always easy to coordinate all the elements necessary to realize a home improvement project. As an example, customers looking to redo their kitchen will need to design it first or adapt a RONA by Design layout for their own space. Then, when shopping for the project, they will need to visit different departments, from plumbing to kitchen cabinets. New flooring may be necessary as well, and so may be mouldings or lighting. This process used to require customers to consult different experts across departments and boutiques while today they can simply turn to their dedicated RONA Project Guide.

Installation services made easy

Finding a contractor or handyman can be a difficult job, enough to make customers shy away from serious home improvement projects. RONA is happy to offer customers an install program that provides access to certified workers such as professional kitchen installers or licensed plumbers and electricians. Customers who require installation services will be able to hire the necessary staff to get their projects completed on time through their dedicated Project Guide. Project Guides will brief the workers, obtain estimates and schedule work for customers. RONA even offers a warranty on installation services for a full year.

Installation services are available on their own or through Project Guides for projects such as kitchens (sinks, faucets and range hoods), bathrooms (bathtubs, vanities, sinks, faucets, showers and shower doors), flooring (ceramic, hardwood, laminate and carpet), doors (hardware and locksets), windows, garage doors and garage door openers, lighting, gas barbecues, mouldings, garden sheds, water heaters as well as blinds and shutters.
