SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - January 17, 2008) - HomeStreet Bank has begun the fifth annual HomeStreet Community Housing Awards program, which grants seven $10,000 awards to nonprofit community organizations serving housing-related needs. The HomeStreet Community Housing Awards will be given throughout the areas where HomeStreet Bank branches are located. Applications for the awards may be submitted now through March 7, 2008.

"Every person deserves to have access to decent, affordable housing, whether it's through homeownership, rental opportunities, or transitional housing," said Kathryn Williams, senior vice president and community relations director for HomeStreet Bank. An eligible organization must be a 501(c)(3) that provides transitional or affordable rental housing, or helps people move along the path toward homeownership.
