Homeward Trust Edmonton: Edmonton Marks National Housing Day With Fourth Annual Breakfast

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2009) - The 4th Annual National Housing Day Breakfast, co-hosted by Homeward Trust Edmonton and CMHC, will take place on Friday November 20th at 7:30 am at the Westin Hotel Edmonton. The event celebrates attainable housing and achievements towards ending homelessness in the capital region.

Keynote speaker, Mr. Randy Ferguson-Chief Operating Officer, Procura Real Estate Services Ltd. will speak on the topic of affordable housing and a sustainable community. Randy is also the Board Chair, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation.

"This is our fourth breakfast and we are excited to have so many great partners, especially CMHC, our co-host." said Susan McGee, Executive Director, Homeward Trust Edmonton. "Events like this bring together many different groups to focus on a very important issue." Susan said, "Affordable housing and strong communities depend on one another- neither can be successful without the other."

The programme also includes greetings from, Naresh Bhardwaj MLA Edmonton-Ellerslie, Councillor Ed Gibbons-Ward 3, Kelly Wagar-CMHC (also Master of Ceremonies) and Susan McGee- Homeward Trust.

On November 22, 1999 the Federation of Canadian Municipalities adopted a resolution to declare a day for Canadians to recognize the need for affordable housing. Since then, National Housing Day events have been held across the country to both celebrate successes and draw attention to this important issue.
