Hydro Schemes Proposed for River Thames, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - April 14, 2010) - Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- Energy suppliers are being sought to build hydropower schemes at three key sites along the River Thames in the United Kingdom. The country's Environment Agency screened all 44 of the Thames weirs before settling on three deemed suitable for hydropower schemes. The proposal to offer three sites follows on from a troubled pilot project at Romney Weir that was initially being developed by RWE npower renewables (Swindon, England), part of German energy company RWE AG (OTC:RWEOY) (Essen, Germany), but is now "progressing well" with a private developer.
