IANS Hires Seasoned Industry Analyst as Executive Vice President, Research & Service Delivery; Bolsters Services to Meet Client Demand; Sees Revenue Growth in 2009

Christian Silva, Former Senior Analyst at Forrester Research, Inc. Will Leverage His Decade of Experience Serving as a Thought Leader and Trusted Advisor to Fortune 100 End Users and Vendors Seeking Insight on Mature and Emerging Technologies to Oversee Operational Delivery and Quality of All IANS Services and Research Content

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2010) -  IANS, a technology and market research firm focused exclusively on serving the risk management and IT security industries, today announced the appointment of Christian (Chris) Silva as Executive Vice President, Research & Service Delivery. Also announced is the expansion of its research and consulting service offerings for enterprise clients, security practitioners and security solution providers.

This strategic hire and service expansion are driven by a strong 2009 in which revenue exceeded the prior year's revenue, including an 8 percent growth in Research & Consulting Service revenue and a 6.5X growth in Consulting revenue as compared to 2008. IANS continues to add to its impressive list of research clients despite tight corporate budgets. IANS experienced a double-digit increase in the number of conference attendees and launched a new event series called the CISO Executive Summits.

Management Team Expanded -- Research and Service Delivery Benefit

Silva, a former senior analyst at Forrester Research, Inc., is a 10-year veteran of the information technology industry who has served as a thought leader and trusted advisor for Fortune 100 end users and vendors. He joins IANS' management team overseeing delivery of the company's expanding services -- annual research memberships, consulting services, and conferences and events -- as Executive Vice President, Research & Service Delivery. His strong background in technology research will serve him well as he bolsters the IANS research team and IANS' overall research capabilities, oversees the delivery of high-quality research content and communicates the IANS' annual research agenda -- the backbone of all services IANS delivers in any given year.

"Chris is an experienced, motivated and high-energy executive with a career and experiences that make him uniquely well-suited to take over the helm of our Research and Delivery Team," said Phil Gardner, co-founder and managing partner, IANS. "Throughout the selection process our management team was impressed with Chris' intelligence, drive and research experience. We know that he will be a huge addition to IANS and our management team."

IANS Services Expand in Response to Continued Client Demand

Several factors continue to drive the expansion of IANS' research and service offerings including positive signs of an economic recovery. Such improvements result in increased technology spending, and drive investments by enterprise clients, security practitioners in specialized, robust research and consulting services. Additionally, the information technology security landscape is continually changing as digital security threats become more sophisticated and compliance initiatives gain momentum within legislative bodies. This has exposed IT security operations to a higher level of scrutiny, necessitating information security teams to seek reliable advice, and high quality security intelligence from their network of industry peers.

According to Jack Phillips, co-founder and senior vice president of marketing, IANS, "We ended 2009 ahead of budget/forecast realizing growth in our Research and Consulting practices. Our unique peer-based research model meets our client demands for the fast implementation of adjustments they need to make to product and service offerings as the environment changes around them. As we continue to draw together end-users, industry experts, and solution providers into a collaborative environment, IANS serves to centralize knowledge sharing and real-world experiences that provide the value-add needed for IT practitioners and vendors to make smart, effective and efficient business decisions."

Based on demand from the marketplace, recently IANS appointed Adam Cardinal as Principal Consultant, Information Security and Risk Management to lead the organization's growing consulting practice, to provide enterprise clients with enhanced consulting services, and to work closely with IANS Faculty members.

For security practitioners, IANS extended partnerships with two service providers -- E-Secure-IT and Evanta -- that offer enhancements to the IANS services, and focus on more high-value virtual events. Following the success of the inaugural The CISO Executive Summit in 2009, IANS will jointly produce 12 CISO Executive Summits in North America with Evanta, an event and conference organization dedicated to creating and sustaining executive leadership networks for business leaders worldwide. The IANS E-Secure-IT service -- a risk intelligence early warning reporting system initially created by E-Secure-IT and offered by IANS to North America -- provides users with instantaneous alerts to the most important information security threats and news worldwide.

Finally, for solutions providers IANS streamlined its solution provider offering in order to be more flexible in response to market needs and grew its research offerings by adding:

  • Industry Report Services -- In the course of its ongoing research, IANS works with end users and solution providers to identify critical areas where the information security industry would benefit from new focus topics. Small groups of interested solution provider companies underwrite studies that probe topic issues and fill the gaps in practitioner and vendor knowledge. Through surveys and interviews of security practitioners coupled with the experience and expertise of IANS Faculty members, IANS develops 20- to 30-page reports that capture the state of a particular technology or management topic.

  • Speaking Engagement Service -- Solution providers can invite an IANS Faculty member or senior executive from the IANS Research Team to deliver a custom presentation at a hosted event for clients or prospects. With its unique position in the marketplace, IANS brings cutting edge technical and/or managerial insights, as well as can assist with delegate recruitment, curriculum development, and post-event reporting.
