IBM Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in U.S. Managed and Professional Network Service Providers, 1H06

ARMONK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 4, 2006 --IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that analyst firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned IBM Global Technology Services (GTS) in the "Leaders" quadrant in its Magic Quadrant for U.S. Managed and Professional Network Service (MPNS) Providers evaluation.

According to the authors, Eric Goodness, David Neil and David Willis (2006), "Vendors in the leaders quadrant are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are building competencies to sustain their leadership positions in the market."

MPNS providers were evaluated based on two components -- the ability to execute and completeness of vision. The most heavily weighted categories were: product/service offerings, market responsiveness and track record, customer experience, product offering strategy and innovation.
