IIHS rates 2008 Subaru Impreza 'Good' For Front Impact Protection

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 3 2007) - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is proud to announce that the all-new 2008 Subaru Impreza has received a 'Good' rating for frontal impact protection from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). 'Good' is the highest rating given by the IIHS for performance in individual crash tests (frontal offset, side impact and rear crash protection).

The Institute's frontal crashworthiness evaluations are based on results of frontal offset crash tests at 40 mph. Intrusion into the occupant compartment is then measured, as well as injuries to a Hybrid III dummy in the driver seat and analysis of slow-motion film to assess how well the restraint system controlled dummy movement during the test. The Impreza tests indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity.

"The new Impreza lineup is stylish, powerful - and very safe," said Katsuhiro Yokoyama, president, chairman and CEO of SCI. "When owners and their families get into a Subaru Impreza, they can be confident that they're surrounding themselves with the highest levels of occupant protection available. And that's in addition to the outstanding active safety features that help drivers avoid accidents altogether."
