"With IODA's distribution network, this catalog of never-before heard live recordings and tracks that have been made new again with stellar sound quality will allow music fans worldwide to rediscover this historic age of punk," said David Ferguson, founder and CEO of CD Presents. "From the first-ever-released live recording of the Avengers show at Winterland in which they opened the Sex Pistols' infamous 1978 melt-down concert, to the live recording of a Bad Brains concert at the Fillmore in 1982, this project unveils more than 400 songs from the fertile punk scene in North America."

"It was wonderful digging into the past with David to restore these gems from our musical history. I am so pleased he entrusted the work to us. I can't wait for the rest of the world to hear it," stated Leslie Ann Jones, director of Music Recording and Scoring, Skywalker Sound.

CD Presents PUNK! The Greatest Generation (1977-97) is a historically vital collection of music, which includes 14 albums of unreleased live recordings from some of the most influential bands in punk, including the Avengers, Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Circle Jerks. The catalog features unreleased and re-released studio recordings from the Avengers, The Subhumans, Tales of Terror, and NOFX in addition to the re-release of CD Presents' popular compilations Rat Music for Rat People. The collection draws from CD Presents recordings from the mid-seventies through the mid-nineties and adds to the growing roster of high quality recordings IODA has assembled from some of the most talented punk artists.

"IODA is honored and proud to give a global voice to these historically significant recordings from CD Presents," said Erik Gilbert, VP of Content at IODA. "CD Presents has created an important cultural contribution by bringing these valuable recordings to those who were there when punk first broke, as well as to an entirely new audience. The preservation and remastering process with Skywalker Sound serves as an example to others that archival recordings can have a new life in the digital age, and need not be lost to time and dust."

All of the recordings in the CD Presents PUNK! The Greatest Generation (1977-97) collection were remixed and remastered under the guidance of Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Leslie Ann Jones, and at the mixing board, engineer Dann Thompson, and mastered by Andre Zweers, all at Skywalker Sound. Skywalker Sound restored the clarity and power of the recordings, which in many cases included rescuing tapes that had begun to disintegrate.

The CD Presents PUNK! The Greatest Generation (1977-97) collection will be available exclusively at until March 16, 2010. After that, the collection will be available through IODA's network of hundreds of digital storefronts worldwide.

About CD Presents
David Ferguson founded CD Presents as an independent concert production company in 1979, notably producing Public Image Limited's 1980 and 1982 West Coast tour stops. To the benefit of music history, Ferguson recorded the most legendary shows CD Presents produced, from Bad Brains to Black Flag, providing much of the material for these new releases. Ferguson transformed CD Presents into a powerhouse independent label and recording studio in 1981, eventually recording, releasing or distributing the music of nearly 3,300 bands. CD Presents continues as an active label today, poised to open its vaults to punk fans of all generations, much of the material being released for the very first time.
