Indeck Energy Announces Its Wood Pellets Are All Natural

No Additives or Low-Quality Feedstock

LADYSMITH, WI--(Marketwire - June 23, 2010) -  Indeck Ladysmith, LLC, the owner and operator of the Indeck Ladysmith BioFuel Center in Ladysmith, Wisconsin is formally announcing that its wood pellets contain no additives, wood glues or wood derived from low-quality sources, like pallets or other scrap wood.

Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets are entirely manufactured from natural, locally grown roundwood. The blended hardwood pellets contain less than one percent ash, less than eight percent moisture and less than one-half percent fines.

"Indeck Energy is committed to using only the highest quality products and to creating only the best quality wood pellet," said Mike Curci, plant superintendent of the Indeck Ladysmith BioFuel Center. "Our pellets burn at a higher BTU per pound, create less ash and put less stress on wood pellet stoves, which are a major investment for most people."

Low-quality feedstock can cause pellets to be poor in quality and low in density. In some cases, manufacturers of wood pellets are using construction site debris which may contain scrap wood, discarded pallets, nails, paint or toxic materials.

Poorly manufactured wood pellets can affect how well a consumer's wood pellet stove functions.

"A pellet created from low-quality stock can lead to dirty or corroded chimneys and stoves, as well as parts becoming jammed," said Scott Freier of Freier's Electric and Heating, Inc. in Hudson, Wis. "To put it simply, quality pellets mean less maintenance and fewer problems."

Freier's Electric and Heating has been working with wood pellet stoves for 19 years.

Indeck Energy is urging consumers to contact their wood pellet suppliers and inquire about the feedstock used in the manufacturing process of their wood pellets.

Additionally, consumers can contact the Pellet Fuels Institute,, for more information regarding pellet quality and standards.

The Indeck Ladysmith BioFuel Center is owned by Indeck Ladysmith, LLC, a subsidiary of Indeck Energy Services, Inc.
