Independent Research Firm Cites Responsys as a Leader in Email Marketing

Responsys Received Highest Scores in Strategy, Functionality; and Perfect Scores for Executive Vision, Product Roadmap, Vertical Strategy, and Strength of Employee Base

SAN BRUNO, CA--(Marketwire - December 23, 2009) - Responsys, a leading global provider of on-demand email and cross-channel marketing solutions, today announced that Forrester Research named Responsys a Leader in "The Forrester Wave™: Email Marketing Service Providers, Q4 2009" (December 2009) report. This news comes on the heels of the company being named as a "Strong Performer" by Forrester Research in the December 2009 report, "The Forrester Wave™: Cross-Channel Campaign Management (CCCM)" in which Responsys was positioned as "the only exclusively on-demand vendor and email powerhouse that now extends into CCCM."

In this latest evaluation, Responsys received the highest score (5.00/5.00) in the Strategy category, receiving perfect (5.00/5.00) scores in all five subcategories: strength of management team, strength of employee base, executive vision, product road map, and vertical strategy. Responsys also received the highest score in the Functionality category.

According to Forrester, Leaders in this evaluation achieved their status "through innovation and a commitment to advancing client education and sophistication." Forrester notes in the report that Responsys "clients are overall very pleased with the company's continual ability to innovate."

In this year's evaluation of email marketing service providers, Forrester assessed each vendor offering against 69 criteria and on the basis of conversations with key executives and customer references, platform demonstrations, and a review of supporting documents. The 69 criteria were grouped into three high-level buckets: current offering, strategy, and market presence. All vendors in this evaluation: deploy their solutions as software-as-a-service (SaaS); have at least $10 million in global revenue from their email business; send at least 200 million pieces of email per month; have an enterprise client focus with an established roster of US-based clients.
