"Conventional wisdom says that the solution for carbon dioxide (CO2) displacement is to capture it and sequester it underground through a process called carbon capture and sequestration (CCS)," notes Mr. Elton. "Safety issues aside, perhaps the issue of scale as it pertains to CCS is the largest concern. In response, an alternative measure that is gaining popularity includes working within the industrial waste stream of facilities such as coal-fired plants to convert CO2 into fuel.
