Industrial GHG Solutions Publishes "Emerging CO2 Recycling Technology Offers New Carbon Mitigation Option" Authored by Carbon Sciences' CEO, Byron Elton

Article Runs in Greenhouse Gas-Focused Magazine's Inaugural Issue

SANTA BARBARA, CA--(Marketwire - April 22, 2010) -  Carbon Sciences Inc. (OTCBB: CABN), the developer of a breakthrough technology to recycle carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into gasoline and other portable fuels, announced today that Industrial GHG Solutions magazine published an article on CO2 mitigation and recycling authored by Carbon Sciences' Chief Executive Officer, Byron Elton.

In the inaugural edition of Industrial GHG Solutions this month, Elton's article "Emerging CO2 Recycling Technology Offers New Carbon Mitigation Option," explores the landscape of CO2 mitigation and what techniques have been proposed to lessen the burden of this harmful greenhouse gas. "Conventional wisdom says that the solution for carbon dioxide (CO2) displacement is to capture it and sequester it underground through a process called carbon capture and sequestration (CCS)," notes Mr. Elton. "Safety issues aside, perhaps the issue of scale as it pertains to CCS is the largest concern. In response, an alternative measure that is gaining popularity includes working within the industrial waste stream of facilities such as coal-fired plants to convert CO2 into fuel. This emerging method is known as carbon recycling or carbon capture and recycling (CCR)."

Elton's article explores the demand for such a technology from places like coal-fired plants and oil refineries while discussing its benefits on energy and climate particularly in comparison to technology that buries the gases underground. He offers insight to the past and present challenges that this CO2-to-Fuel process encounters, and how Carbon Sciences has identified ways to overcome them.

"One company (Carbon Sciences) devised a way to unravel CO2 using less energy by developing a polymer shell that protects the biocatalysts responsible for the transformation so that they may be recycled, rather than discarded as happens in nature."

Industrial GHG Solutions is a new monthly business-to-business magazine read by environmental compliance professionals, emissions mitigation practitioners, technology providers and corporate executives who oversee industrial greenhouse gas measurement and mitigation responsibilities at the facility and/or corporate level. The publication covers a wide array of issues on the leading edge of GHG management, from measurement and reporting requirements to reduction strategies and abatement.

About Carbon Sciences, Inc.

Carbon Sciences Inc. is developing a breakthrough technology to recycle carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the basic fuel building blocks required to produce gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and other fuels. Innovating at the intersection of chemical engineering and bio-engineering disciplines, we are developing a highly scalable biocatalytic process to meet the fuel needs of the world. Our solution to energy and climate challenges is to enable a sustainable world of fuel consumption and climate stability by recycling CO2 into fuel. For example, Carbon Sciences' breakthrough technology can be used to recycle CO2 emitted from fossil fuel power plants into gasoline to run cars and jet fuel to fly aircraft.
