IneoQuest Monitors the Entire Canadian Switched Digital Video Network for Digital Video Quality Assurance and Operational Efficiency

Top Canadian Carriers Use IneoQuest's IQDialogue™ SDV to Reduce Operational Costs and Provide Superior Quality of Service to Subscribers

MANSFIELD, MA--(Marketwire - January 11, 2010) - IneoQuest Technologies, Inc., the global provider of advanced quality and service assurance solutions for digital video, today announced that the entire Canadian switched digital video (SDV) market is now using IneoQuest's IQDialogue™ SDV Server probes to monitor, analyze and troubleshoot SDV networks. As a result of IneoQuest's technology, Canadian carriers are able to maximize operational efficiency and provide superior quality of service to subscribers.

SDV optimizes the utilization of the cable physical plant by enabling the transmission of a wider variety of programming for subscribers while effectively managing bandwidth. SDV uses special control signals to deliver programs to the viewers as they request them, freeing up bandwidth for more digital and high-definition channels, as well as high-speed Internet. Because of this complexity, Canada's SDV cable providers have turned to IneoQuest's IQDialogue SDV to analyze the performance of the SDV service delivery platform, including regional activity for each switched program, allowing for adequate provisioning of switched video and ensuring program availability for all regions at any time.

IQDialogue SDV probes are vendor agnostic and can be deployed at any point in the cable network to monitor the control signaling between the viewers, servers and diverse devices across the network, providing end-to-end correlation and capturing overall network health. IQDialogue SDV probes can audit, measure and alarm on many metrics, such as SDV boot-up, channel change timing, control plane signaling, SDV mini-carousel and many other parameters (IGMP, ICMP, etc.). With its real-time interface, technicians can perform quick and accurate fault identification for efficient troubleshooting.

For further engineering analysis, IneoQuest's SDV family of products provides trend reporting abilities. At the headend, or network operations center, IneoQuest's iDMS™ management system consolidates the views of multiple regional probes and the IQDialogue™ Reporting & Analytics Engine summarizes performance over time. By combining these solutions, providers can identify systematic issues and improve network performance.

"SDV technology has fundamentally changed how digital video is delivered and truly enables forward-thinking cable providers to offer subscribers the best of today's cutting-edge services," said Gino Dion, vice president of strategic solutions at IneoQuest. "SDV technology brings advancements to the industry, as well as a number of challenges. For example, SDV's open architecture can limit its availability, scalability and performance. However, IneoQuest's family of products for SDV, including our IQDialogue SDV probes, helps alleviate those hurdles so providers can reduce costs and offer more services for additional revenue."
