Infocast Event to Highlight Latest Developments in Carbon Capture

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 22, 2007) - Carbon Capture Status and Outlook in Washington, DC on December 3-5, 2007 will feature the most up-to-date thinking around "clean coal" and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS).

Blue Source LLC, a gold sponsor, recently announced the successful capture of vent stack CO2 flowing from a natural gas processing plant in South Central Colorado. Russell Martin, Vice President of Blue Source LLC will moderate a panel discussion titled "The Emergent Clean Coal Business Space: the Dynamic Nexus of Carbon Regulation, High Energy Prices, and Game-Changing Technologies."

Rentech, who will participate in the "Unregulated Generation Companies, Independent Power Project and Coal-to-Liquids Developers' Views of Carbon Capture" panel, recently announced the purchase of a site for its Strategic Fuels and Chemicals Center, which will include carbon capture as part of its GHG reduction efforts.

AEP recently announced plans to use carbon capture as part of its GHG reduction efforts at an Oklahoma power plant.

The Department of Energy awarded $197 million to the first three large-scale carbon sequestration projects: the Plains CO2 Reduction Partnership, the Southeast Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership and the Southwest Regional Partnership for Carbon Sequestration. This governmental support should be instrumental in moving the industry forward.

These developments and the latest thinking on the future of the industry will be discussed by leading investor-owned, municipal, unregulated and independent power generation companies. Regulatory officials, venture capitalists, engineers, financiers and policy analysts will offer their views of the economics and risks of implementation especially in the face of potential carbon compliance regimes.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Julio Friedmann of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Scott Klara of National Energy Technology Labs.

The full day pre-conference technology showcase will host an array of capture solution providers and pilot/demonstration case studies. CCS technology presentations will focus on both business applications and investment opportunities, so as to be relevant for the developer, emitter, financial and venture capitalist communities.
