Inmet Mining Announces Appointment of Douglas Whitehead to Its Board of Directors

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire – Oct. 1, 2007) - Inmet Mining Corporation (TSX:IMN) is pleased to announce that Douglas Whitehead, President and Chief Executive Officer of Finning International Inc., has accepted an invitation to join its Board of Directors. Mr. Whitehead's appointment is effective today.

Prior to joining Finning International Inc., Mr. Whitehead was President and Chief Executive Officer of Fletcher Challenge Canada from 1992 to 1998. Prior to that, he held various management and executive positions of increasing responsibility in general management, marketing and merchandising, planning and development and human resources with Fletcher Challenge Canada and its predecessors.

Mr. Whitehead holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario. Mr. Whitehead is a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and a member of the B.C. Progress Board.
