Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario: Burlington CA Student Makes National Honour Roll

Jordan Giblett passes challenging professional entry exam

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 7, 2009) - Jordan Giblett, a Burlington Chartered Accounting student, was one of just 20 Ontario students to make the prestigious Honour Roll for top marks on this year's Canada-wide Uniform Evaluation (UFE).

The UFE, written in September, is a national three-day evaluation that assesses competencies including essential knowledge, professional judgment, ethics and the ability to communicate. The UFE is an important component of the CA qualification program, which includes prescribed education, practical experience and examination requirements. Only those who complete this entire program successfully are entitled to use the internationally recognized designation of Chartered Accountant, a profession known for superior financial expertise, strategic thinking, business insight and leadership.

Jordan Giblett has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Toronto. On how he approached taking the UFE, Mr. Giblett said: ""My advice to future writers is that confidence and staying calm going into the exam is key. I found that taking the time to relax and hang out with my close friends and family was important in between studying. You need that time to recharge and take your mind off the whole process. I think confidence comes from sticking to your study plan and knowing that you've done everything you could to prepare yourself, whatever the outcome might be."

In total, Ontario had a record 1,363 successful UFE writers and captured 20 of 51 National Honour roll spots. Jacob Bell of Pickering captured the Ontario Gold Medal as the top writer of the Uniform Evaluation (UFE) in the province.

"Congratulations to all of the successful Ontario candidates," said Rod Barr, FCA, President and CEO, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. "Qualifying to become a CA is a very challenging process and the resulting career is rich in rewards and opportunities. I am confident that all of the students will make great contributions in their future careers and will uphold the high standards of the CA profession."
