Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of Ontario: Cornwall CA Elected District Association President

Lee Mattice leads local Chartered Accountants

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2009) - Cornwall Chartered Accountant and Lee Mattice, CA, has been elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario's Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry District CA Association. The District Association is the CA profession's local presence and organizes activities that benefit local Chartered Accountants and the community at large.

In addition to helping to serve, represent and provide fellowship among local CAs, the District Association also helps bring the Institute's many programs to its members, while also organizing important community events, such as tax clinics for people with low incomes.

Mr. Mattice is a Manager with Welch LLP in Cornwall. A CA since 1980, Lee is a graduate of Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School and the University of Waterloo. During his public accounting career he has concentrated on working with small and medium sized businesses, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

"The District Association in Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry hosts our local professional development seminars, allowing a local economic benefit rather than our members travelling to Ottawa for courses. In addition, the Association sponsors a bursary for a student in the accounting program at St. Lawrence College – Cornwall Campus." said Mr. Mattice. "I was president of the District Association in the early 1990's and I'm proud to have been re-elected as the current DA President."

"The CA profession is in the forefront of our province's economy, and important to communities of all types and sizes," said Rod Barr, FCA, President and CEO of the Institute. "We believe that strong District Associations help build and strengthen the CA designation and our profession's contribution to Ontario's prosperity."
