InterMapper 5.2 Adds WMI Monitoring and Integration Into External Programs

New HTTP API and Data Gathering Capabilities Extend Network Monitoring Capabilities

WEST LEBANON, NH--(Marketwire - January 7, 2010) - Dartware, LLC has released version 5.2 of InterMapper network monitoring software with InterMapper Flows, an integrated NetFlow analyzer.

InterMapper 5.2 includes new WMI probes that return detailed performance data about Windows servers and workstations through the Windows Management Interface. Armed with this performance and diagnostic information, network technicians can determine if reported network problems actually reside in the server, on the end-user workstation, or in the network between.

"Network managers can spend hours trying to diagnose and fix reported network performance problems that are actually issues specific to servers or end-user devices," says Brown. "Fast access to real-time WMI data would, for example, show a network manager that an end-user workstation was out of memory or being slowed down by other network processes."

A new HTTP API allows network managers to create programs that can import and export data with the InterMapper server. This makes possible a whole range of applications, such as tools for synchronizing a primary and backup InterMapper server, automatically adding new devices to InterMapper maps, acknowledging problems via the web, or exporting network problem alerts to trouble-ticket systems or other management solutions.

InterMapper also supports the InterMapper Flows software. This provides a NetFlow and sFlow analyzer, built directly into the InterMapper user interface. With this flow-related data, customers can tell who is using bandwidth, and for what purpose.

Other new features in InterMapper 5.2 include:

-- New probe development tools -- Companion scripts combine command-line probes with the scripts they run into a single file. This makes it very easy to use, distribute and share new probes. New CScript and Python command-line macros make it even easier to create command-line probes which integrate the Windows Scripting Host or Python, which is installed as part of InterMapper DataCenter.

-- Diagnostic tools -- To conduct an SNMPWalk users simply right-click on a mapped device. The resulting data is instantly displayed. And, a new "Report a Bug" option allows technician to include Event or Debug log files into bug reports.

InterMapper 5.2 is currently available.
