Interactive Male: "Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride" to Premiere at Image+Nation

Interactive Male Presents Powerful Documentary at Montreal's International LGBT Film Festival

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 23, 2009) - Interactive Male, the most popular gay chatline in America, is proud to present the world premiere of independent documentary "Beyond Gay, The Politics of Pride" at Image+Nation, Montreal's International LGBT Film Festival on October 25, 2009. The trailer is available now at: http://www.biggaymovie.com.

Beyond Gay is a powerful look at the political dynamics of gay pride celebrations around the world, dramatically juxtaposing socially accepted celebrations in North and South America and the international protest marches in nations where state-sanctioned homophobia is the norm, and there is no support from local communities.

In the film, Vancouver Pride Society President, Ken Coolen, is on a mission to impart relevance to Vancouver's pride celebrations. With film crew in tow, he embarks on a journey that will ultimately take him around the world, transcending Vancouver's elaborate costumes, lavish parties and pounding dance music to uncover the unimaginable selflessness and bravery of activists and volunteers in the global LGBT community.

The film reveals the vast spectrum of Pride, from Sao Paulo's government-sponsored celebration that has grown to include over three million people in just 10 years, to Moscow and Warsaw Pride, where Coolen is one of the few brave souls who dare to march among violent radicals and witness for himself their violence and intolerance.

"On the 40th anniversary of Stonewall and with the fight for gay rights still very much in North American headlines, Beyond Gay is a timely, at times shocking, but ultimately hopeful look at the gay experience, told from many different perspectives at this unique moment in time," says Bob Christie, Beyond Gay's Director and Producer. "The message at the heart of this film is that the fight for LGBT rights is the fight for equal human rights for everyone, everywhere. While also joyful and inspirational, this film is very much a call to action."

Following Image+Nation, Beyond Gay will make its international public debut at the Mix Festival of Sexual Diversity in Sao Paulo, Brazil in November, and will tour LGBT and mainstream film festivals throughout 2010.
