The International ANDY Awards Partners With Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation to Support New Orleans Rebuilding Efforts

Artist Auction Event at ANDYs Judging Week in New Orleans Will Be Sponsored by Microsoft Bing and Benefit Restoration of Lower 9th Ward Destroyed by Hurricane Katrina

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 27, 2010) - The 2010 International ANDY Awards, led by Co-Chairs Ty Montague, Co-President and Chief Creative Officer of JWT North America, and Michael Lebowitz, Founder and CEO of digital agency Big Spaceship, has announced a partnership with the Make It Right Foundation for a unique art auction event to support their continued rebuilding efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The auction event will be sponsored by Microsoft Bing and will take place during ANDYs judging week in New Orleans, Feb. 22-26. Works donated by premier artists and photographers represented by Bernstein & Andriulli, as well as several prominent local artists, will be up for bid. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Make It Right's ongoing restoration of the Lower 9th Ward.

Gina Grillo, Executive Director of the ADVERTISING Club of New York and of The International ANDY Awards, said the partnership with the Make It Right Foundation was a natural choice.

"Given New Orleans' vibrant culture and connection to the arts, and the ANDYs' first-of-its-kind jury of crowd-sourced worldwide creative leaders, this partnership is a great opportunity to reinforce the important role creativity can play in the rebirth of this resilient city," said Grillo.

Make It Right's Executive Director, Tom Darden, said: "Make It Right is pleased to welcome the ANDYs to New Orleans and grateful for their support as we help to rebuild green, safe homes for families in the Lower 9th Ward."

Eric Hadley, General Manager of Bing Marketing, said: "With the ANDYs' decision to crowd-source the jury, the bar for how award shows are managed, produced and ultimately decided has forever been raised. And Bing, the first-ever decision engine from Microsoft, is especially proud to be a part of this year's event."

Art world stars who've signed on to donate works for the auction include 2010 ANDYs juror and creator of the Obama Hope poster, Shepard Fairey, and Sir Peter Blake, "Godfather of Pop Art in the U.K."

Louisa St. Pierre, Partner and Director of Illustration and Interactive at Bernstein & Andriulli, and Managing Editor of Spread ArtCulture magazine, said: "Bernstein & Andriulli and its artists are honored to be involved with Make It Right and the ANDY Awards, to continue the support for the New Orleans renaissance, highlighting the ongoing need."
