MONTREAL, CANADA--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2009) - The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is pleased to announce a new publishing partnership with Elsevier, world-leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical information products and services. From 2010, the Elsevier-published journal Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice will become the Official Journal of the International Diabetes Federation.

Ann Keeling, CEO and Executive Director of IDF said today at the IDF 20th World Diabetes Congress, "This welcome partnership will help the Federation to build on its long-standing tradition of sharing information and best-practice within the global diabetes community. Establishing Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice as our official journal will showcase IDF activities and important research throughout the Federation's 221 members in over 160 countries and beyond. It will help extend our reputation within the scientific community."

Since its launch in 1985, Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice has become well known internationally as an authoritative resource for new findings, reviews and commentary in international clinical research and patient care. Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice is published monthly and is indexed and abstracted in MEDLINE and PubMed. Starting in January, 2010, selected IDF Diabetes Atlas papers will be published in the journal.

Andrew Miller, Executive Publisher, Global Medical Research at Elsevier, commented, "This new affiliation between Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice and the International Diabetes Federation is the culmination of 25 years of growth for the journal. It is now a mature, responsive and trusted source of professional information for the busy scientist and clinician worldwide, reflecting IDF's mission.
