Intrinsyc Supports TVcompass on Windows CE Development for WiFi Smart Remote Control

NICE, FRANCE--(CCNMatthews - June 6, 2006) - Microsoft Mobile and Embedded DevCon -

Intrinsyc enables reduced development time, costs and risk of cutting-edge wireless interactive entertainment handheld with its embedded development expertise

Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. (TSX:ICS) a mobility software and services company, today announces the successful completion of a customized product development project for TVcompass Inc., a technology innovator of mobile interactive entertainment. Intrinsyc delivered embedded Microsoft® Windows™ CE 5.0 development and design services for the TVcompass WiFi Smart Remote™ control, accelerating the time to market of the final product and ensuring a more cost-effective and flexible delivery path.

The WiFi Smart Remote is a full-featured, programmable universal remote control device that employs WiFi wireless connectivity and a mobile phone-style colour LCD screen. Capable of controlling a minimum of 24 entertainment components, the WiFi Smart Remote serves as a powerful tool for managing home theatre systems. The remote's display offers users in-hand access to an advanced Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and syndicated headlines from popular on-line content feeds without disrupting onscreen television viewing. TVcompass announced on 4th January 2006 that with Thomson Inc., which manufactures RCA brand televisions, it is gearing up for the market introduction of the first WiFi Smart Remote controls under the Acoustic Research brand. The TVcompass WiFi Smart Remote control device and details of the development support Intrinsyc provided are available throughout MEDC at Intrinsyc's booth, #5.

TVcompass selected Intrinsyc for its unique experience and proven capabilities of applying the Windows CE technology base to the mobile and embedded markets in developing customized handhelds, consumer electronics devices and Soleus™, a turnkey feature phone software platform. As part of the support project, Intrinsyc provided a range of design services and project activities that helped TVcompass facilitate the quick integration of the WiFi Smart Remote's numerous advanced features:

- Electronics design - Intrinsyc undertook the schematic design and the integration of the device subsystems including the WiFi and PCB tracking

- Industrial design - Intrinsyc worked closely with the industrial designers to ensure the board layout and component placement matched the ergonomic requirements of the case design

- Prototype production - the project required a fast track prototyping phase, so Intrinsyc managed the build including the PCB manufacture, component sourcing and procurement, manufacture of the prototype boards as well as testing and verification

- Windows CE Porting and Device Drivers - Intrinsyc was responsible for all system level software creation and integration, including integration of the Windows CE 5.0 operating system and porting the Samsung S3C2410A board support package to the target platform

"TVcompass is very pleased with the work completed by Intrinsyc, whose Windows CE embedded design and development expertise was a major factor in reducing the WiFi Smart Remote control's project timescales," said Sean Fernback, CTO, TVcompass. "We have brought one of the most exciting wireless interactive entertainment products to market and through working with Intrinsyc we enjoyed more flexibility in design, overall reduced costs and benefited from their high production values. We are already experiencing high demand for the WiFi Smart Remote from customers across the globe."

"The WiFi Smart Remote control is a great example of the successful application of Intrinsyc's expert mobile and embedded development skills and we are delighted to have worked with TVcompass on such a cutting-edge wireless device," said David Manuel, EVP Customer Programs, Intrinsyc. "Intrinsyc prides itself in fully addressing our customer's project delivery demands, an important competency base for helping device makers quickly and cost-effectively build compelling products based on Windows CE. This capability and our expertise in Windows CE development is also an ideal base for bringing mobile phones to market using Soleus, our Windows CE-based feature phone software platform."
