Iranian Music Revolutionary Kourosh Zolani Selects Eileen Koch for Representation

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) -  Eileen Koch & Company INC. (EKC) proudly announces representation of composer and musician Kourosh Zolani (www.kouroshzolani.com), who is best known for having changed the landscape of classical Persian music with the creation of the world's only playable chromatic santour. Zolani has chosen Eileen Koch and her creative team to represent his talents and introduce his ancient and esoteric art form.

Despite being raised in the small Iranian village of Sangesar where music was considered taboo, Zolani developed a passion for musical expression at an early age, learning the santour at 14. As a young prodigy, Zolani pursued his music education by attending the University of Art in Tehran where he received a bachelor's in music composition. It was during this time that Zolani conceived a new tuning technique for the ancient Iranian instrument, which transformed it from its ancient diatonic form to allow for more chromatic versatility for play in more complex orchestrations.

Upon moving to the U.S., Zolani attended the UCLA School of Entertainment to study film scoring. After graduating, he began traveling the world to perform in high-profile concerts everywhere from Washington, D.C. to the ancient Roman city of Jerash in Jordan, while composing original scores for motion pictures on the side.

In November 2009, Zolani released a collection of his original work, titled "Memoirs of Sangesar," which received international acclaim. (View the music video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeG8J9cGdiU.) He also secured a number of distinguished industry awards for his first album, "Peaceful Planet" (2003). Both albums are available for purchase on CDBaby at http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/KouroshZolani1.

Through EKC's strategic guidance, Zolani aims to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary music with the introduction of an entirely new sound that blends the exotic and distinctive sounds of the chromatic santour with more conventional and ambient accompaniment.
