Jack Johnson En Concert in High-Definition at Cineplex Entertainment Theatres

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 19, 2009) - Cineplex Entertainment (TSX:CGX.UN) and Universal Music Canada, the country's leading music company, are pleased to present the Canadian premiere of the concert documentary, Jack Johnson En Concert, on Wednesday, October 21st at 7 pm (local time) at select Cineplex Entertainment theatres across Canada, just days before the release of the Jack Johnson En Concert CD and DVD on October 27.

"Jack Johnson is a dynamic international artist and we are pleased to show his first concert documentary on our big screens," said Pat Marshall, Vice-President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "This is yet another example of the wide variety of alternative content available to our theatre guests across the country."

Shown in High Definition (HD) and digital surround sound, the film traces the steps of Jack Johnson's 2008 summer European tour. Featuring onstage performances of Jack and his band in both, massive venues and intimate spaces, the Emmett Malloy-directed film reveals a musician riding the peak of his stardom while giving deeper insight into how this global icon manages to keep his cool amidst the fame. In backstage interviews and candid conversations with his band mates as well as friends like Ben Harper, Mason Jennings, G Love, Neil Halstead, and Matt Costa, the artistically shot En Concert is a behind-the-scenes look at a one-of-a-kind life on the road, peppered with scenes of river surfing in Germany, bike riding in France and rainy days in England.

A companion CD titled Jack Johnson En Concert (Brushfire/UMC) will be also available on October 27. All profits from this release will be going to fund the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and the Johnson Ohana Family trust which will provide continuing endowments to Jack's favourite environmental charities. A deluxe edition will feature both the film and CD as well as an extended 60 page book of photos from the tour.

Advance tickets are now available online at www.cineplex.com/events as well as at participating theatre box offices. Admission for children ages 3 – 13 and seniors is $9.95 + tax and general admission is $10.95 + tax.
