JobsInTheUS.com Third Quarter 2007 Employment Index Results Show Growth Trend Continues

WESTBROOK, ME--(Marketwire - November 9, 2007) - JobsInTheUS.com (JIUS) combined Employment Index for Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island reported 35,163 job openings, an increase of 16.7 percent, for the Third Quarter 2007. Healthcare continued to be the leading industry for recruitment postings along with customer support, followed by manufacturing, sales and clerical, respectively.

Third Quarter 2007 Summary

The JobsInTheUS.com Jobs Index is a statistical summary of the data compiled for the Third Quarter and identifies key trends based on job openings posted, searches performed and key metrics from the Web site.

Healthcare continues to be the leading industry with 12,084 job openings, up 182 percent from Third Quarter 2006. Customer support was the second highest category with an increase of 58 percent.

Significant Job Trends for Third Quarter 2007:

--  Healthcare positions accounted for 16.6 percent of all job openings
--  Customer Support tallied 7.6 percent
--  Manufacturing reached 7.0 percent
--  Sales were 5.3 percent
--  Clerical was 4.6 percent
--  Companies with 50 or fewer employees posted 41.9 percent of the job
    openings
--  Companies with 101-250 employees accounted for 16.5 percent
--  Companies with 51-100 employees posted 13.8 percent
--  Full time positions reported 73.9 percent of job openings, with part-
    time positions amounting to 19.2 percent of job openings and contract or
    per diem openings at 6.9 percent
    

Significant Job Search Trends for Third Quarter 2007:

--  The number of qualified searches for the Third Quarter 2007, i.e. job
    seekers who used specific parameters to search for a position, was
    1,462,363, up 150 percent, over Third Quarter 2006
--  Healthcare tallied 7.8 percent of qualified searches
--  Clerical was 5.8 percent
--  Accounting was 4.5 percent
--  Banking/Finance reported 4.1 percent
--  IT/Computers accounted for 3.9 percent
    

The commuting preference for 55.9 percent of job seekers was within one to 30 miles of home; 19.1 percent preferred to work within 31 to 40 miles; and 24.9 percent would commute more than 40 miles.

Full time positions searched were 64.5 percent of job openings; part-time positions were 32.3 percent of job openings; and contract or per diem positions were 3.2 percent of job openings.

Salaried positions amounted to 41.9 percent of job openings, hourly were 48.4 percent and commission structured positions were 6.6 percent. Other wage types were 3.2 percent.

Regular job duration accounted for 32.4 percent of jobs searched, temp to hire positions were 22.3 percent, positions lasting for the school year were 21.5 percent, and internships amounted to 20.7 percent.

Web Site Trends:

JobsInTheUS.com had 4,154,784 visits for the quarter, a 38 percent increase from third quarter of 2006. Average time per visit this quarter increased significantly to nine minutes, 54 seconds from the previous year's three minutes, 19 seconds. During an average visit, a job seeker will download 6.8 pages.
