Johnny Depp, Producers Susan and Lloyd Ecker, and the Late Burlesque Star Sophie Tucker Share Grammy Award Nominations

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 3, 2009) - Actor Johnny Depp, Innovative Films writer-producers Susan and Lloyd Ecker, and the late, legendary burlesque headliner Sophie Tucker, shared surprise Grammy nominations at Wednesday's Grammy Awards Nominations telecast on CBS. Winners will be announced at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, January 31, 2010, at Los Angeles' Staples Center.

The Eckers were nominated for Best Album Notes, "Sophie Tucker: Origins of the Red-Hot Mama, 1910-1922," for Archeophone Records. Depp was nominated for co-writing album notes with Douglas Brinkley on the Legacy soundtrack recording, "Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson." The Sophie Tucker album received two Grammy nominations, for Classic Album and Album Notes.

Innovative Films announced today (December 3, 2009), that the production company is in active discussions to find a prominent documentary filmmaker to produce and direct a feature-length documentary film, "The Amazing Life and Times of Sophie Tucker," based on the Eckers' 58-page Sophie Tucker liner notes, and archival material dating back to Tucker's outrageous early career as a bawdy and controversial musical headliner reminiscent of the outlandish, larger than life early performances of Bette Midler.
