Juniper Networks Powers Next-Generation Training and Experimentation Network for the U.S. Joint Forces Command

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) -  Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that it is supplying the U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM) with a comprehensive, core-to-edge network that provides real-time joint training to Army, Navy and Air Force personnel around the globe. Juniper routers, switches, firewalls and network security and event management solutions are powering the JFCOM Next-Generation Joint Training and Experimentation Network (NextGen JTEN), which now supports up to 30,000 concurrent multicast streams featuring a mix of live video and virtual battle simulations for multiple users and events around the world.

JTEN is the communications network for the U.S. Department of Defense Joint National Training Capability (JNTC), and is used to train combatant commands and services via a spectrum of live, virtual and constructive training environments. With permanent nodes serving U.S. military training programs around the world, the rapidly re-configurable network supports joint training exercises, experimentation, and the evaluation of new battle management concepts.

• Juniper Networks MX240 Ethernet Services Routers, featuring Advanced Routing features such as Low-Latency Multicast, MPLS Network Virtualization, Advanced QoS, IPv6 and security.

JFCOM is utilizing features of the MX Series, EX Series and ISG Series to deliver, segregate and secure multiple multicast events for their customers. The next-generation multicast features of the Juniper Networks Junos® operating system were implemented to improve multicast performance without slowing transmissions and causing minimal CPU degradation common in other approaches.
