Justin's Makes 2010 Earth Day Commitment Towards Increased Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship

Company Seeks Biodegradable Packaging and Asks Industry to Join Effort

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - April 22, 2010) -  Justin's, a leader in the all-natural nut butter industry, announces a renewed commitment to sustainable business practices in honor of Earth Day 2010, as well as a challenge to the industry to help the company meet these goals. On Earth Day 2010, the company will officially commit to seeking out biodegradable packaging for its squeeze packs.

"Since I started this company, I've always held onto the belief that we could someday solve the problem of environmentally unfriendly packaging for our squeeze packs," said Justin Gold, founder and CEO of Justin's. "Right now, I have a biodegradable, plant-based squeeze pack* full of Justin's Almond Butter sitting on my desk, but without industry-wide acceptance it's completely cost prohibitive. This is a call to action for the entire industry to help us achieve a goal that is now within reach. Our investors are eagerly pushing this initiative, which is the extra horsepower we need."

Recent investments from influential thought leaders such as Alex Bogusky and Stephen Groth of MDC Partners and Ivory Cottage Industries have come with specific conditions to move into green packaging faster than the industry is progressing.

"As a new investor, I've challenged Justin's to make an aggressive commitment to get petroleum-based packaging out of their inventory," said Bogusky. "This is a call to arms from retailers to manufacturers, to achieve a solution to what I see as an easily solvable problem.
