Kent Completes Alexander River Phase One Exploration Program

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 15, 2009) - Kent Exploration Inc. (the "Company" or "Kent") (TSX VENTURE:KEX) reports that it has completed the first phase of exploration on the Alexander River Gold Project, approximately 25 kilometers southeast of Reefton, West Coast South Island, New Zealand. Phase 2, subject to permit approval, includes a minimal impact diamond drill program and will commence immediately after the Christmas/New Year break.

The Company's geological consultants, under the direction of Ms. Nancy Reardon, M.Sc. P.Geol., located and sampled 26 of the 28 trenches sampled by Macraes Mining during a 1988 - 1993 work program, where they identified an auriferous halo of sulphide-hosted mineralization which exists around the early mined reefs. The approximately 177 samples from the trenches have been submitted to SGS Laboratories in New Zealand for assay, which are expected early in the New Year. Significant historic trench gold samples reported by Macraes are:

trench A 7.8m 14.44 g/t Au Including 4.2m @ 24.12 g/t Au
trench G 9.0m 5.20 g/t Au Including 3m @ 9.17 g/t Au
trench K 5.0m 8.16 g/t Au Including 3m @ 11.97 g/t Au
trench M 12.0m 5.02 g/t Au Including 6m @ 7.64 g/t Au

The Alexander River exploration program is intended to confirm the grades where Macraes determined there was a resource potential of approximately four million tonnes grading more than five grams per tonne gold, for approximately 20 million grams (643,000 ounces) of gold, in a shallow dipping structure from surface to the level 6 workings, as reported in a report filed with Crown Minerals NZ. The Company advises that a qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimates as a current mineral resource, the Company is not treating the historical estimates as a current mineral resource and the historical estimates should not be relied upon.

The 2,669-hectare Alexander River gold prospect encompasses the historic Alexander gold mine, which reportedly produced 41,091 ounces of gold from 47,726 tonnes of quartz prior to closing in 1943.

The Company is also pleased to announce the addition to its highly experienced field exploration team of geologists, which includes Mr. Marcus van Wermeskerken, of Ms. Heidi Rhodes, M.Sc. P.Geol. The Company's New Zealand exploration team is exploring its Alexander River, Lyell and Paparoa Gold Projects.

Kent Exploration Inc. is a junior exploration company that has an Option Agreement to earn 100% of Teck's interest in Chalice Gold Mines Limited's Gnaweeda Gold Project in West Australia and has acquired the Alexander River, Paparoa and Lyell gold projects in the highly prolific Reefton gold field in New Zealand.

The Company has an option to earn a 100% interest in the Silver Hills property; a silver/lead/zinc prospect in south-eastern British Columbia, and has a 100% interest in the Courtney Lake property; a silver/lead/zinc prospect in north-east Saskatchewan. The Company has a 100% interest in Coal Prospecting Permits covering approximately 92,000 ha in east-central Saskatchewan, a 100% interest in a mining lease option on the Flagstaff Mountain property, a gold/silver/zinc/barite prospect in eastern Washington state, a 100% interest in the mining lease option on the Ivanhoe Creek property, a Midas-style gold/silver target in Nevada's Carlin Trend, and 50% of a 100% interest in the Ivanhoe Creek placer claims covering a bentonite deposit.
