King & Spalding's Charlotte Office Expands With Addition of Finance, Private Equity and Intellectual Property Lawyers

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - November 9, 2007) - King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, today announced the continuing expansion of the Charlotte office with the addition of nine highly respected lawyers. The new arrivals will both strengthen existing disciplines in litigation and real estate and launch Charlotte-based practices in the areas of finance, private equity and intellectual property.

The latest lawyers join the five that opened the office in mid-July -- Jeff Brown, George Covington, Cory Hohnbaum, Mark Thigpen and Wen Hutchinson -- bringing the total number of Charlotte-based lawyers to 14.

The following partners have joined the Charlotte office since its July opening:

--  Rick Bange, an experienced corporate lawyer with a significant
    background in private equity, mergers and acquisitions and leveraged
    finance. He represents private equity sponsors and venture capital funds in
    a variety of investment and exit transactions including leveraged buyouts,
    early-stage and growth equity investments, mergers, stock and asset
    acquisitions and sales, mezzanine investments and recapitalizations. He
    received a J.D. and B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of
    Virginia.
    
--  Todd Holleman, a partner in King & Spalding's finance group, who has
    relocated from the firm's Atlanta office to Charlotte, where he
    concentrates in the representation of lenders and borrowers in debt
    financings, including syndicated credit facilities on both a leveraged and
    investment grade basis, cash flow and asset-backed financings, mezzanine
    financings, construction loans, portfolio purchases, workouts and
    restructurings and DIP financing. Holleman has specific industry expertise
    in commercial real estate finance and energy finance. He received a J.D.
    from Wake Forest University and a B.A. from University of North Carolina at
    Chapel Hill.
    

Joining the office as counsel are:

--  John Harrington, a well-regarded patent prosecutor whose practice
    focuses on computer software and business method patents, including patents
    relating to financial services technology. He is a graduate of North
    Carolina State University and received a J.D. degree from the University of
    South Carolina.
    
--  Chris McCoy, an experienced real estate lawyer who has represented
    real estate developers, real estate funds and institutional investors in a
    variety of real property related transactions, including development,
    acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures and construction and permanent
    financings for multi-use projects, single- and multi-family developments,
    and office and retail developments. He is a graduate of the University of
    North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a J.D. degree from the University
    of Richmond.
    
--  Connie Miller, an experienced real estate lawyer who served most
    recently as assistant general counsel for Bank of America responsible for
    all legal issues related to its headquarters real estate portfolio as well
    as all retail and administrative real estate projects throughout much of
    the Southeast. Prior to that, Miller  practiced with Jenkens & Gilcrist in
    Dallas, Texas, where she worked on real estate matters for development
    clients. She is a graduate of Kansas State University and earned a J.D.
    degree from Southern Methodist University.
    

In addition, Steven J. de Groot, a partner in the firm's corporate practice, will split his time between the firm's Charlotte and Atlanta offices and will have a residence in Charlotte. He is active with clients in outsourcing and technology transaction matters.

King & Spalding is also pleased to announce the addition in the Charlotte office of Adam Conrad, an intellectual property litigation lawyer whose credentials include clerking for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Along with Conrad are fellow associate Erika Olson, an accomplished financial services litigator, and senior attorney James Lund, an experienced and well-regarded banking and finance lawyer.

Additional lawyers are expected in the coming months in the areas of private equity, finance, and litigation, among other practice areas.

Separately, Chris Sheaffer has joined King & Spalding's Charlotte office as director of administration. She joins the firm from Mayer Brown in Charlotte, where she held the same position.

King & Spalding opened the Charlotte office in July 2007. Charlotte is the third of four new offices opened by the firm for the year, and the eighth of nine worldwide locations. The office provides legal services currently in the areas of litigation, corporate, private equity, real estate, finance and intellectual property matters.
