Kryptiva Makes Email the Center of a User's Collaboration Experience With a Unified Communication Solution That Eliminates Point Products

Kryptiva Collaboration Suite Drives File Sharing, Application Sharing and Instant Messaging From Your Email Inbox and Will Add Other Interactive Functions Inspired by Social Networking Websites

SHERBROOKE, CANADA--(Marketwire - December 10, 2007) - Kryptiva, Inc., an innovator in democratizing the use of email as a central and secure platform for collaboration, today introduced a unified communications solution that works with Microsoft® Outlook® to centralize several methods by which office workers collaborate with their peers. With the solution, which today can be tried as a pilot, end users can launch instant messaging (IM) conversations, share files and share applications from their email inbox. Eliminating the need for numerous point products, the Kryptiva Collaboration Suite provides a central point to audit and secure communication, as well as dramatically improves productivity.

"Several effective and unique methods exist for workers to collaborate with colleagues, clients and partners, however adoption of these methods is slow because they do not fit into the worker's natural habitat, which is email," said Karim Yaghmour, founder and CEO of Kryptiva. "The Kryptiva Collaboration Suite allows collaboration using numerous available methods without leaving the email inbox and without the need to navigate away from the inbox to point solutions. Finally, enterprise IT staffs can offer a solution that makes email the center of a worker's collaboration experience -- and in a way that is secure and auditable and seamlessly integrates with existing infrastructure."

As noted in a November 15 online Network World column, "Changing Collaboration Behavior is Hard," by Susan Hanley: "...the hardest part of collaboration solutions isn't necessarily getting the design perfect the first time or even selecting the best software platform, it's integrating the solution seamlessly into the way people work (or as seamlessly as possible given that you are asking people to do something differently from the way they used to do it)."

Users benefit from the Kryptiva Collaboration Suite by installing a Microsoft Outlook plugin on their machines. When a user requests Kryptiva-enhanced functions, the plugin interacts with the Kryptiva Collaboration back-end servers to enable the user-selected functionality before the message is sent. Message recipients benefit from the Kryptiva-enhanced collaboration functions by installing the plugin.

Kryptiva's roadmap includes plans for additional collaborative functions that the suite can manage from an inbox, including many which are typically only accessible through consumer-oriented social networking sites. For the initial pilot of the solution, the following collaboration methods are enabled:

-- Instant messaging: Users can initiate contextualized IM sessions
directly from their email composition window. Therefore, there is no need
to have your IM client running -- or for an open-ended IM channel where
participants can be interrupted at any time. In addition, given that it's
contextualized, the chance of off-topic discussions is reduced.
-- File sharing: A user can opt to share his attachments, instead of
sending them as regular attachments. In that case, the recipient(s) will be
able to access the attachments as part of a shared folder with the sender.
In this way, recipients can read and write to a file shared in email,
eliminating the need to "re-attach" the file to a message sent back to the
original sender. In addition, with the file-sharing functionality, the size
limitations of email attachments are not an issue. Like IM, this
functionality is made available from the regular email composition window.
-- Desktop sharing: A user can invite his recipient(s) to view the
content of his desktop simply by selecting the appropriate option in his
    email composition window.

Kryptiva is also working to integrate its solution with auditing or archiving tools so that end user actions can be saved for compliance purposes and to support overall security efforts.

Pricing and Availability

The Kryptiva Collaboration Suite requires plugins on end user machines and a Kryptiva Collaboration back-end server. The plugin for Microsoft Outlook is available for free and can be downloaded from the Kryptiva website via Users are guided through a pilot registration process when they launch Outlook following installation of the plugin.

During the current introductory pilot program, users can experience the Collaboration Suite by sending collaboration-enabled Kryptiva emails. Recipients of Kryptiva-enhanced messages must also install the plugin and complete the pilot registration process.

When fully available, the solution can be deployed in two ways:

-- Direct: Customers can purchase a collaboration server to provide
service for internal and external users who have downloaded and installed
    the free plugin.
-- Via partners and via software as a service: Kryptiva is working with a
number of Internet and application service providers who will offer the
collaboration suite as a service to their users.
