Attention: City Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, Health/Medical Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor WHITBY--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 6, 2005) - Dr. Edward Abramson is a professor of psychology at California State University and a former director of the Eating Disorders Center at Chico Community Hospital. He is internationally recognized as an expert on eating and weight disorders. Dr. Abramson is in Toronto on Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21 and available for interviews. The recent announcement by Premier Dalton McGuinty, stating that mandatory exercises are to be implemented in Ontario's public schools, is further recognition of obesity in our culture. Exercise and diet are important methods to fight obesity, but Dr. Abramson goes to the root of most eating problems - the psychological issues connected with weight gain such as thought patterns, self-perceptions and social aspects. His new book, BODY INTELLIGENCE, offers a unique weight-control plan including two chapters that deal specifically with children and offering advice to parents who are concerned about their children's weight and in preventing childhood obesity.

BODY INTELLIGENCE has been excerpted in the October issue of Fitness Magazine. In addition, Dr. Abramson has appeared on Hard Copy, 20/20, PBS, Good Day LA, Joan Rivers, and other TV and radio programs, and his work has been written about in Reader's Digest, Cosmo, Good Housekeeping, Self, The New York Times, The LA Times, the Washington Post, and other major publications.
