La Prensa Kicks Off Fiesta de la Familia With Mariachi Contest

RIVERSIDE, CA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - La Prensa, Inland Southern California's Spanish-Language Newspaper and a subsidiary of The Press-Enterprise Company, kicks off the 10th Annual Fiesta de la Familia celebration of Hispanic Heritage month with a Mariachi Contest held on Friday, October 19, 2007 at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to attract talented artists throughout the region," said Frank Escobedo, associate publisher of The Business Press and La Prensa. "This contest is new to Fiesta de la Familia and we are expecting to receive an overwhelming response."

Judges for the Mariachi Contest consist of members of Sol de Mexico and Reyna de Los Angeles. The two winning groups receive $1,000 and the opportunity to perform at the Fiesta de la Familia as the opening act for Grammy nominated Sol de Mexico on Saturday, October 20 and America's first all female Mariachi group, Reyna de Los Angeles, on Sunday, October 21.

Fiesta de la Familia is the Inland Empire's largest celebration of the tastes, sights, sounds and color of Hispanic heritage. The free two-day event is scheduled for Saturday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 21 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Arrowhead Credit Union Park, located at 280 South "E" Street, San Bernardino.
