Labour to Meet With Ontario Minister of Finance Dwight Duncan 2:00 P.M., Thurs., March 11, 7 Queen's Park Crescent, Frost Bldg. South, Trillium Boardroom

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 11, 2010) - The Ontario Federation of Labour and 15 major affiliates representing more than one million Ontario workers in health, education, manufacturing, forestry, construction and the service sector will meet with Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan Thursday, March 11, for a second pre-budget discussion.

Priority items for the meeting, some of which flow from the recent Speech from the Throne, include: job creation; health care; pensions; Employment Insurance, and the Super Crown Corporation currently under discussion, including the possible privatization of government assets.

The first meeting, held January 21, with Duncan and Labour Minister Peter Fonseca focused on the need for a "good jobs' budget" and was viewed as a constructive first step by the OFL and the public and private sector unions in attendance.

"Workers, communities and families are looking to this budget to provide substantial action on public and private sector jobs. We're looking forward to what we hope is a positive and productive meeting on restoring Ontario's economic vitality," says OFL President Sid Ryan.

Ryan will be available for comment following the meeting.
