Lake Victoria Receives Positive Preliminary Gold Recovery Results From Tailing Samples, Singida Gold Project

GOLDEN, COLORADO--(Marketwire - Sept. 3, 2009) - Lake Victoria Mining Company (OTCBB:LVCA) has received positive results from the initial metallurgical studies conducted on tailing samples from the company's Singida Gold Project, central Tanzania. The tailing samples assayed 4.65 grams per metric ton gold, and initial leaching tests resulted in an extraction of 86.6 percent of the gold.

Roger Newell, president of Lake Victoria stated that "While these preliminary leaching results are very encouraging, additional studies are required to determine what amount of gold might also be recovered by gravity methods. The gravity test results will be received shortly. Once received, the optimal gold recovery system will be identified. For Lake Victoria, this brings us another step closer to initial gold production, and to becoming a producing gold company beyond just an exploration company."

Geological mapping, sampling and a detailed ground magnetic survey at Singida began in late July 2009 with the aim of defining ore controlling structures and rock types associated with the gold occurrences. These field studies are ongoing, but the geology appears to be dominated by quartz veins in dark colored, fine grained metamorphic greenstone rocks within shear zones; and these rocks and structures are believed to be surrounded by Precambrian granites. This geologic setting is similar to many classic gold districts that occur in Precambrian greenstone belts.
