Lake Victoria's Latest Trench Gold Assays Average 2.28 Grams per Metric Ton at Kinyambwiga Gold Project, Tanzania

GOLDEN, COLORADO--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2009) - Lake Victoria Mining Company, Inc. (OTCBB:LVCA) -

A 2.28 grams per metric ton assay average has been received for 134 samples collected in twenty-two trenches at the Kinyambwiga Gold Project in northern Tanzania.

The Kinyambwiga project lies within License Number PL4653/2007 and covers 30.73 square kilometers in northern Tanzania's Lake Victoria Greenstone Belt. The property is about 110 kilometers northeast of Mwanza and 12 kilometers west of the smaller town of Bunda.

Gold assay results have been received from detailed sampling of 22 trenches, and the 134 assays average 2.28 grams per metric ton. At this stage of development, there appear to be three sub-parallel veins that vary from about 0.3 meters to 4 meters thick; the sampled trenches cover a strike length of about 1,000 meters.

To further define vein locations and directions, a detailed ground magnetic survey was recently completed in the area of the gold bearing veins. This survey totaled 143 line kilometers, and consisted of 62 north-south traverse lines, each line being 2.3 kilometers long. Individual lines were spaced 50 meters apart. This detailed survey has highlighted locations for possible vein extensions and intersections for possible trenching and sampling.

Previous excavations and shallow reconnaissance drilling suggests the quartz vein system may have a strike length of about 2 kilometers; additional work is planned to further define the dimensions of these veins. To date, a total of 54 trenches have been excavated and additional results will be reported as they are received.

Roger Newell, president of Lake Victoria, said, "These near surface trench assays are encouraging, and it is exciting to have a project like Kinyambwiga in our company, especially when the gold price is rising above $1,000 per ounce. Much work remains to be done, but at this stage the apparent size and grade indications of the vein system are encouraging."
