Last Chance for Animals, Best Friends Animal Society, The Humane Society of the United States and Hollywood Stars Come Out Against Puppy Mills at Beverly Hills Puppy Store Rally

Their Message: ADOPT - Don't Buy This Holiday Season!

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - December 21, 2007) - Last Chance for Animals (LCA) joined by Best Friends Animal Society, The Humane Society of the United States, local rescue groups and LCA spokesperson Carole Raphaelle Davis, actress ("Sex & the City," "Angel," "Veronica Mars") and author of "The Diary of Jinky, Dog of a Hollywood Wife," are getting their Hollywood dog-loving friends together to come out against puppy mills and encourage dog adoption on the biggest puppy buying day of the year. Richard Belzer, actor ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") and his adopted dog, Bébe, is one of the celebrities scheduled to show his support. There will also be testimonials from citizens with their dogs who have been duped by puppy stores into buying a sick puppy.

"Ever wonder where your cute puppy's Mom is? She's living a nightmare in a cage. When you buy a puppy, you put money in the hands of a despicable business. Like shoes at the shoe store are from shoe factories, puppies at the puppy store are from puppy factories. We call them puppy mills, where dogs are kept in inhumane conditions and bred until they drop dead. Adoption is the only ethical choice when one is bringing a companion animal into one's heart and home," said LCA spokesperson Carole Raphaelle Davis, actress, and author of "The Diary of Jinky, Dog of a Hollywood Wife."

Posh Puppy in Beverly Hills and Encino, The Puppy Store in West Hollywood, Western Pet Center in Los Angeles, Puppy & Me in Sherman Oaks and the recently scrutinized Pets of Bel Air are typical of stores that are popping up throughout this city and the nation. Pet stores drive the sale of more than 2 million puppy mill puppies per year. LCA's undercover investigations time and again have exposed the brutality of these mass breeding facilities. Help create change! ADOPT -- don't buy this holiday season! Please go to your local animal shelter or rescue group to find a loving animal for your home.
