Last-Minute Sun Seekers Boost September Car Hire Sales for Auto Europe

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Sept. 16, 2009) - International car hire brokerage Auto Europe, has been pleasantly surprised by a higher than anticipated level of bookings for September 2009.

Auto Europe's Commercial Director for the UK and Ireland, Peter McAree, believes this is the combined result of the disappointing British weather, and an increased reluctance to pay a premium for school holiday breaks:

"Sticking to a reduced budget is on everyone's agenda this year, so anyone who doesn't have school-aged children (along with parents who are prepared to take their children outside the holiday period to make a saving) can and are clearly taking advantage of much lower prices available outside the peak school holiday season."

As hopes for a 'barbeque summer' are finally abandoned, the rush to find some sun in Europe before temperatures drop has also substantially contributed to late travel plans. There are currently some great car hire deals on offer for September, but McAree warns customers to avoid waiting until the last minute:

"Tour Operators and car hire suppliers have cut capacity this year. A major surge in business could keep travel prices higher than you might expect to get a deal for, and some late bookers may end up having to re-think their travel plans. As always, my advice is to book as early as possible."
