Law Society Tribunal Orders and Dispositions

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2009) -

Attention News Editors:

The Law Society of Upper Canada regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures that all lawyers and licensed paralegals in Ontario meet standards of learning, professional competence and professional conduct that are appropriate for the legal services provided.

As part of this mandate, the Law Society's Hearing and Appeal Panels recently heard the following matters. Hearing and Appeal Panels are responsible for determining the appropriate disposition of cases.

Giuseppe Alessandro, of the City of Vaughan (Paralegal applicant)

Decision: The Application is dismissed.

Paul John Anderson (1991), of the City of Toronto

Decision: The Lawyer is suspended for seven months. This Order shall become effective 10 days from the date of its release. This Order is under appeal.

Timothy Michael Kinnaird (Lawyer applicant), of the City of Toronto

Decision: The licence application is allowed on specified terms, including that the applicant shall not practise real estate until he has taken a refresher course and that he shall repay the amounts owed to four named parties.

Yaroslav Mikitchook (1975), of the City of Toronto

Decision: The Appeal asking that the penalty imposed be set aside is dismissed.

Joseph Paradiso (1973), of the City of Vaughan

Decision: The stay granted on March 24, 2009 is extended to the scheduled appeal date of October 13, 2009.

Pretam Kaur Purewal (1991), of the City of Brampton

Decision: The Appeals against the findings of professional misconduct and against the penalty order are dismissed.
