LeSEA Global Feed the Hungry: Haiti Relief Efforts Escalate

Feed The Hungry Rushes Relief Items to Quake Survivors

ST. CATHARINES, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 20, 2010) - Responding to the catastrophic earthquake that hit the capital city of Port au Prince, Haiti, Feed the Hungry is in full response mode with emergency food and relief efforts. The FTH team arrived in Port au Prince on Saturday carrying 450 lbs. of medicine, wound management, and casting supplies. On Sunday morning 6,000 gallons of water were trucked in from the Dominican Republic, along with beans, rice, and diesel fuel to begin relief distribution.

Distribution centres are now being organized in churches throughout Port au Prince and the surrounding region in order to get relief supplies to as many people as possible in a quick and orderly fashion.

Containers are also being prepared to leave the Miami port as soon as possible with water, rice, beans, cooking utensils, plastic tarps for emergency shelter, blankets, and soap for hygiene. Each 40' container will carry 20 tons of food and supplies, for immediate and ongoing relief support to churches and survivors.

Founded in 1987, the mission of LeSEA Global Feed the Hungry is to feed hungry people around the world and provide relief to those in need due to famine, drought, flood, war or other natural disaster. Feed the Hungry has provided more than $200 million of food and relief supplies to 94 nations of the world.
